I know that simply changing springs on most other manufacturers guns won't void the warranty. That doesn't mean to say they like it. For example, in most cases, if you change the springs out in a S&W and subsequently send the gun in for warranty repair for an issue unrelated to the springs they will put OEM springs back in it before they send it back. No charge for the springs and your warranty is still in force. If you send the gun in for light hammer strikes after changing the mainspring, then they may (or just threaten to) charge you for the repair, but the warranty would still be good afterward. Obviously, you can't expect any manufacturer to warranty aftermarket parts or any damage those aftermarket parts may cause. Is SIG different in this reguard? Often times written policy is different than actual user experience. |
